Description
STEP 1: Museum of the City of New York The Museum of the City of New York, located on the east side of Central Park at 103rd Street, is a cultural institution dedicated to the history, art, and culture of the city. It features fascinating exhibitions that trace the evolution of New York through the centuries. This is where we will meet. We promise to start the tour on a musical note, setting the mood right from the beginning with a little tune. STEP 2: Street Art and Social Movements of Spanish Harlem As we head north into the streets of East Harlem, you'll admire colorful murals and spectacular graffiti that reflect the creative expression and evolution of hip-hop. At the Graffiti Hall of Fame, discover the showcase of local talents and learn about the differences between graffiti, street art, and tagging, as well as the various perceptions of this art form, sometimes viewed as vandalism and sometimes as artistic expression. We'll delve deeper into the lives and works of artists who have left a mark on the hip-hop scene with their iconic creations. STEP 3: Central Harlem and Apollo Theater Next, we'll explore the vibrant streets of Central Harlem, which have given birth to famous musicians and artists. In front of the legendary Apollo Theater, the cradle of African-American music, hip-hop also found its place along with other musical genres. The walk continues through the streets of Harlem before we take the subway to the Bronx. STEP 4: The Bronx From the base of Yankee Stadium to the South Bronx, this final part of the tour includes meeting talented artists, exploring authentic hip-hop clothing stores, or shops that are 100% made in The Bronx. Learn more about the tumultuous history of the Bronx!Includes
