Description

The Museum of the City of New York celebrates the past, present, and future of the city it calls home. Located in a neo-Georgian style landmark building on Fifth Avenue and 103rd Street, at the top of the Museum Mile and across the street from Central Park's Conservatory Garden and El Museo Del Barrio, the Museum of the City of New York invites visitors to explore the distinctive nature of urban life in the world's most exciting and influential metropolis. Be sure to catch Timescapes, an award-winning 30-minute film documenting 400 years of NYC history, the Museum Shop's collection of iconic New York City souvenirs and gifts, and Chalsty’s Café which offers sweet treats, savory snacks, breakfast, and lunch, courtesy of Amy's Bread. Explore the permanent exhibitions, including New York at Its Core, which explores stories of innovation, energy, and struggle of generations of immigrants, politicians, tycoons, dreamers, master builders, and ordinary New Yorkers. Watch the award-winning short documentary, Timescapes, which explores how New York City grew from a settlement of a few hundred Europeans, Africans, and Native Americans into the metropolis we know today.
